In both books the main character lives in the Florida area and spends lots of time outside and with nature, doing things such as fishing, riding their bikes, or hanging out with friends. ![]() These two books have many similarities such as the suburban setting, the message of protecting the environment, the relationship between characters, as well as the similar theme that is conveyed throughout both books, of doing what you believe is right and being the change you wish to see in the world. If you enjoyed reading all about Roy’s adventures, in the book Hoot, by Carl Hiaasen, then you should try reading another one of Hiaasen’s novels called Flush. ![]() Throughout his journey there were many ups and downs, but in the end Roy was able to save the wild owls and he learned that doing something is much more effective than doing nothing at all. This is something Roy Eberhardt, from Carl Hiaasen’s Hoot, learned when he made the decision to do everything in his power to save a group of wild owls from me being killed due to urban development. It may seem like the easiest option at the time, but it’s certainly not the most effective. ![]() Everywhere in the world has its problems and most people choose to sit back and do nothing about it. ![]()
